Among other subjects, Dario Maestripieri, an Italian primatologist and a Professor of Comparative Human Development, Evolutionary Biology, and Neurobiology at The University of Chicago, conducts research on macaque monkeys (Macaca mulatta), highlighting the many parallels between the social behaviour of rhesus macaques and human beings. The macaques live in hierarchical communities and, according to Maestripieri, display Machiavellian intelligence.
