Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
Danyèl Waro (RE) is the best-known proponent of maloya, the distinctive music and dance form native to L’Ile de la Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Maloya, whose rhythms derive from the song-making of enslaved workers on the island’s plantations, was once officially banned – and Waro is more than happy to keep its links with political justice alive. What we have here, though, is a typically Druga Godba encounter: the poet of maloya versus Austria’s leading jazz trio. An evening of intrigue, lashings of artistic charisma and miles of inexhaustible energy awaits.
