Očem nevidno (Invisible to the Eye)
Academic Choir Tone Tomšič, University of Ljubljana
Annual concert
Conductor: Rahela Durič
Invisible to the eye... friendship, love, faith. Everyday problems and concerns, as well as injustice and suffering that draw us away from life’s essences – our time alone and time spent with our loved ones, communing with nature, silence, laughter and childlike playfulness. What is essential is invisible to the eye... but well worth seeking out. Also through the works by Slovenian composers and newly-written choral compositions, the music that the Academic Choir Tone Tomšič, University of Ljubljana employs as a vehicle for revealing the essential and conveying its own essence.
The programme features works by Slovenian composers, including Lebič, Lajovic and Dolenc, as well as experimental music by Peter Ablinger, whose composition Weiss-weisslich (White-Whitish) calls for focused listening and silence in a highly experimental and innovative way. Also performed will be contemporary choral works by composers Daniel Knaggs, Randal Stroope, Sven-David Sandström, Susan LaBarr and others. The compositions will be brought to life in innovative and interactive stage settings, complemented by photographic visuals.
