Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
For the last 15 years their feet have barely touched the ground. With their drumkit, accordeon, double bass and saxophone, this zany 4-piece band from Toulouse have been creating and performing their heady mix of funk, jazz, music from the Balkans, electro, « musette », progressive rock…. an innovative music of many shapes and without limits. With more than 600 concerts under their belt, Pulcinella is a true live band, appearing at prestigious venues such as Jazz in Marciac, Festival Radio France, Rio Loco, Jazz sous les Pommiers, the London Jazz Festival, the Festival of Odessa ….
Honduras, Guatemala, Bulgaria, Tadjikistan, Moldavia, Colombia –they have played in 20 or so countries around the world, even in Vietnam at the 1000th anniversary celebrations of the capital Hanoi. Always eager to meet and share, they delight in collaborating with other artists. Other musicians of course ( Emile Parisien, Leila Martial, Andreas Schaerer, Hervé Suhubiette …) but also artists working in other fields: they have created music for theatre and cinema, worked with dancers, illustrated texts, and accompanied circus performers….
In 2017 they presented « Le Grand Déballage » (The Grand Reveal) – a fusion of African rhythms with traditional dances like mazurkas, waltzes or merengues. The festival Rio Loco in 2019 saw the beginnings of the collaboration with Maria Mazotta. In parallel, in September 2019 they released a 6th album, Ça, as a four-piece (on the Hungarian label BMC). At present they are working on a new repertoire with the Colombian vocal/percussion trio La Perla.
