Robert Jukič 4 + Bram De Looze
Tomaž Gajšt, trompet; Boštjan Simon, saxophone; Bram De Looze, piano; Robert Jukič, double basss, kompozicije; Kristijan Krajnčan, drums
Robert Jukić's quartet has been active for eight years. Over this period, the band has developed a sound of its very own, a composite of four musical paths, four elaborate musical visions. Welcoming ever new compositional challenges, this hybrid body repeatedly reinvent itself and – searching for freedom within the given compositional frames – walks the thin line of the possible to create an ever-shifting identity. They have released two studio albums (Caminos de gloria, Izza) and a live album (Res Publica).
At Robert’s invitation, various local and international artists have collaborated with the quartet. On this occasion, they will be joined by Belgian pianist Bram De Looze, who performs with Jukič in Belgium, where he is based. Bram first appeared with the quartet in Belgium in 2023, when they played a concert in promotion of the album Res Publica. De Looze is a pianist known for his unique musical expression, unparalleled technical brilliance, and musical maturity.
Res Publica is intense; it keeps us on the edge of our seats from start to finish. Persuasive.
Jazzmania
Res Publica is an authentic document of the group's live energy and evolution, a testament to the players’ mutual trust. The quartet remains raw, uncompromising and vulnerable, committed to walking on the edge.
Mario Batelić
Robert Jukič gives the double bass in this quartet its own power and dynamic, creating a big stage for a fabulous team. This is high art with a strong statement.
