Nunsense: The Christmas Grand SHOW

Following the outstanding success of Mamma Mia!, Grease and other hit musicals, producer Jure Franko and his production company Prospot bring another internationally acclaimed musical comedy to the Slovenian stage. Having become a much-loved holiday tradition at Cankarjev dom, Nunsense returns this year as the Christmas Grand SHOW, specially staged for the festive season.

Originally written by Dan Goggin, Nunsense premiered at New York's Cherry Lane Theatre in December 1985 and has since become the second longest-running Off-Broadway musical in history. Over the past four decades, it has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, translated into more than 26 languages and enjoyed by audiences across the globe.

The story follows five eccentric nuns who suddenly find themselves in financial trouble. To raise much-needed funds, they decide to stage a charity variety show. As each nun competes to steal the spotlight, the audience is treated to a delightful series of hilarious misunderstandings, unforgettable musical numbers and unexpected surprises. Singing, dancing and sparkling with wit, these extraordinary sisters reveal a side of convent life unlike anything you've seen before.

The Slovenian production features an outstanding cast of performers, many of whom have also captivated audiences in Mamma Mia!, Slovenia's most successful musical of all time.

For this special Christmas Grand SHOW, Nunsense has been reimagined on a grand scale for the stage of Linhart Hall at Cankarjev dom. Joining the cast will be some of Slovenia's finest dancers, performing spectacular new choreography created under the artistic direction of internationally acclaimed choreographer Matevž Česen.
