Various events are being held in Slovenia and Paraguay in commemoration of the centennial of the birth of Slovenian researcher Dr. Branislava Sušnik (1920–1996) whose research work importantly marked Paraguayan and Latin American anthropology and ethnolinguistics. This year’s central events are the international conference Dr. Branislava Sušnik and Her Contemporaries – Ambassadors for Slovenian Science in South America to take place at Cankarjev dom and the exhibition La Doctora: The Life and Work of a Slovenian Scientist in Paraguay at the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
The international conference will look at the results of the eponymous target research project whilst also including research contributions from other invited guests. Papers will be delivered by Slovenian researchers involved in the CRP project (UP FHŠ, ZRC SAZU and FF UL), renowned international authorities on Dr. Branislava Sušnik’s life and work, including Adelina Pusineri, her longtime collaborator at the Andres Barbero Ethnographic Museum in Asunción, and curator Raquel Salazar, South American researchers Merilynh Renfeldt, Diego Villar and Federico Bossert, as well as Slovenian researchers and experts.
