The artistic guideline of the four members of the prestigious Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, coming from different cultural backgrounds and forming a collective in Munich – among them the Slovenian cellist Jaka Stadler – is to connect and combine a wide variety of soundscapes and idioms with a view to developing their own chamber music expression. The accomplished musicians have built up a broad and stylistically varied repertoire, ranging from Bach to contemporary music, while seeking new possibilities for sound exploration in artistic and chamber partnerships with other artists.
Joining the strings on stage is the soprano Emily Pogorelc praised for her unique, crystalline voice, ease of high notes and enchanting stage presence. Prize winner in the 2021 Operalia Competition, Pogorelc is enjoying a meteoric rise to operatic stardom, making impressive debuts in major opera houses, including the iconic Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Reflecting the breadth of the performers’ repertoire and laced with a romantic tone, the programme’s centrepieces are Mahler’s and Schubert’s masterworks, using contrast as an element of expressiveness and creating uniquely atmospheric moods.
