Sudden death prevented Puccini from completing his final opera, Turandot, whose coherent aesthetic constitutes the final pinnacle of the golden era of Italian belcanto. Maribor Theatre’s highly appealing and elegantly glamourous show features an impressive visual dynamic. Especially noteworthy performances, prominent against the background of rich orchestration and distinctive exotic flavour, are appearances by Rebeka Lokar as the outstanding Turandot, Sabina Cvilak as the graceful slave girl Liù and the accomplished Renzo Zulian in the role of Prince Calaf.
