Gal Gjurin’s already classic Slovenian and new Canadian repertoire, which he has been building up on the other side of the Atlantic over the past five years as a Canadian citizen. He will also play some newly-penned Slovenian compositions.
The concert features Gjurin's sister, singer Severa Gjurin, with whom he has been collaborating for over two decades, and the Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Veronica Charnley – Plumes, who is featured in two duets on Gjurin's latest award-winning double studio album, C.
In October 2021, musician, singer, poet and producer Gal George Gjurin (1978), currently preparing for his summer concert tour in Slovenia, won two crystal statuettes at the Toronto OMA Music Awards for best music video of the year (Secret) and best composition of the year (I Don't Want to Meet You in Heaven).
In March 2022, at the world's largest songwriting competition (ISC) in Nashville, USA, contesting against more than 23,000 songwriters, Gjurin ranked among the world’s top 50. He thus repeated his last year's success when the expert committee selected winners from among 26,000 predominantly American songwriters.
Gjurin has released 17 albums with his own music, his poetry has been translated into 7 languages and included in Slovenian poetry anthologies spanning the last 25 years. He works on both sides of the Atlantic, both as a performing artist and producer at his two recording studios (Studio Osh, East Toronto, Oshawa, and Studio Had, Ljubljana) and record labels (Canadian Osh Publishing and Slovenian Diskografska hiša Had).
The Gal Gjurin concert initially scheduled for 24 March 2020, 25 February 2021, 1 July 2021 and 21 June 2022 – will take place on 17 September 2022. The tickets remain valid.
