Franz Schubert (orch. Roland Moser): Symphony in D major, D. 935A
Franz Schubert: Nonet in E-flat minor, D. 79, “Franz Schuberts Begräbnis-Feyer”
Roland Moser: Echoraum
Franz Schubert (orch. Roland Moser): Andante in B minor, D. 936A
Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 7 in B minor, D. 759, “Unfinished”
The central composition of the concert is the moving Nonet in E-flat minor by Franz Schubert, which he probably subtitled himself as a song for his own funeral. It was created when the composer was only sixteen years old. Schubert’s music invites us to our own inner world, provoking in-depth reflection on our fragility, transience and longing. A unique perspective on Schubert’s music will be provided by Swiss composer Roland Moser, with a wonderful reflection on Schubert’s funeral music and the orchestration of Schubert’s unfinished works.
