Almost sixty years passed from the time of writing Six Songs on the Poems of Christian Morgenstern to the creation of the Dämmerlicht (Twilight) cycle. How does the composer view his “youthful sins” from the position of his ripe maturity? How different is his music today? How does he engage with the music of the young Webern and Berg, or the mature, rarely heard Debussy?
