The power of music is immeasurable. It can take us back to the ancient past or convey us to foreign places, to a world of imagination and beauty. On this occasion, The Firebird will transport us to the world of Slavic mythology and tsarist Russia, while the German folk tradition of the mischievous jester Till Eulenspiegel will be transformed into a symphonic poem by Richard Strauss. These works provide the perfect framework for the symphonic poem Equi by Marko Mihevc and Richard Strauss’s virtuoso Violin Concerto, in which, extraordinary violinist Jiyoon Lee will present herself to the subscription audience for the first time.
