Terrafolk and the RTV Slovenija Symphony Orchestra (Slovenia)

Twenty years after selling out two concerts with the RTV Slovenija Symphony Orchestra at the Križanke Summer Theatre, Terrafolk, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, returns under the artistic direction of Bojan Cvetrežnik with a live acoustic performance featuring original music by its current and former members. It was the collaboration with the RTV Slovenija Symphony Orchestra, which has just celebrated its 70th anniversary, that inspired many of Terrafolk's orchestral productions between 2004 and 2014, mostly under the baton of conductor Izidor Leitinger.

Guest appearances with the Symphony Orchestra in France, local and international tours with the Simbolični orkester, productions with the Jenaer Philharmonie and Maribor’s Glasbeni september Festival have built up an extensive repertoire of original compositions. The current Terrafolka line-up will broaden this catalogue with some fresh material.

The programme, following the format of classical concerts, will once again reflect Terrafolk's proverbial genre-bending make-up, irreducible to traditional musical categories, such as classical, jazz, world or global and folk music – while at the same time playing individual pieces closely defined by genre. The concert’s acoustic sound will blend seamlessly with the architectural acoustics of the Gallus Hall auditorium – a rarity in today’s so-called global music. Terrafolk will thus once again take us on a journey that transcends the boundaries of different musical worlds, on a quest for beauty beyond the comfort zone. 
 

Gostovanja s Simfoniki v Franciji, koncerti s Simboličnim orkestrom doma in v tujini, produkcija z Jensko filharmonijo in festival Glasbeni september v Mariboru so prispevali k nastanku obsežnega repertoarja avtorskih skladb. Trenutna zasedba Terrafolka bo dodala še nekaj sveže glasbe.
Program, zasnovan v formatu klasičnih koncertov, bo ponovno odražal Terrafolkovo pregovorno neulovljivost v ustaljena glasbena prizorišča, kot so klasika, jazz, glasbe sveta oziroma globalna glasba in folk – hkrati pa bodo posamezne skladbe jasno žanrsko profilirane. Koncert bo ponudil akustični zvok, ki se bo zlil z arhitekturno akustiko dvorane – nekaj, kar je danes v t. i. globalni glasbi redkost. S tem bo znova povabil k preseganju meja različnih glasbenih svetov in iskanju lepote onkraj območja udobja.
