Silver Series

The Silver Series will be enriched by two contemporary music projects with a focus on the oeuvre of Philip Glass. In a mesmerising blend of Glass's pulsating minimalist music and the timeless organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Iveta Apkalna, the titular organist of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, highlights the similarities (rather than the differences) between the two composers. In the works of Philip Glass and his own compositions, the versatile Alexej Gerassimez and his percussion quartet are on the trail of nature's elemental forces through a uniquely individual sound, using both percussion instruments and various other objects.

The rich diversity of musical languages never fails to amaze. In our December's concert, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester Alumni String Sextet will find echoes of Tchaikovsky's much-loved work in the rarely heard String Sextet in D Major, Op. 10, by the ingenious Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose "classical" music, eclipsed by the composer's enduring Hollywood film music legacy, is only being rediscovered.

One of the world's most prestigious chamber vocal ensembles needs no introduction. Tenebrae are renowned for their passion, precision, sonic clarity and impeccable intonation. The ensemble’s programme focuses on the 500th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and juxtaposes the music of late Renaissance with the expressive opulence of some of our era’s most exciting composers.

The Silver Season will also brings into spotlight our national choral music practice. The Mixed Choir of Glasbena Matica Ljubljana will perform Rossini's Little Solemn Mass under the leadership of conductor Sebastjan Vrhovnik and in the company of accomplished soloists Mojca Bitenc Križaj, Nuška Drašček, Martin Sušnik and Domen Križaj.

Subscribers enjoy savings of up to 20 % off general admission tickets.
The number of season tickets is limited.
First-time subscribers are invited to take out their subscriptions from 12 June 2025.

E-Subscription ticket – No need to print it out 
Your e-subscription ticket is always at the ready on your phone. Join the many subscribers who have already opted for a digital ticket as an alternative to the plastic one. Physical subscription tickets are still available on request.

Subscribers’ benefits
Each Silver Series subscriber is entitled to an additional complimentary ticket for one of the concerts in the series. Please inform us of your preferred choice of concert by contacting vstopnice@cd-cc.si after the subscriptions have closed, and the ticket will be sent to you by email.
Golden and Silver Series subscribers enjoy a 20% discount on tickets for the Great Opera Arias – New Year’s Gala Concert (December 2025), which go on sale in September.

Short, pre-concert guided tours of the CD Gallery exhibitions will be organised for the Golden and Silver Series subscribers. Guided tours are available at a symbolic price, prior booking is necessary. Subscribers will receive further information by e-mail.

Cankarjev dom reserves the right to make alterations to the advertised programme and/or performers. Subscribers will be informed of any changes. Please check our website for updates.

We expect to implement all the announced concerts. We will make every endeavour to find new dates for any postponed concerts. If a subscriber finds the new date unsuitable, or Cankarjev dom is unable to provide an alternative date, the subscriber will be issued with a value card in the amount proportionate to the subscription price or refunded the purchase price.
