There’s no better way to celebrate the International Women's Day than by talking about very current topics - images of successful women in the media - and thereby rousing new considerations in our society.
The German and Swedish embassies in Slovenia, the EC Representation in Slovenia and the ONA VE, an association dedicated to connecting female experts and promoting knowledge, are organizing a round table on the topic of "Successful Women and Their Perception in the Media" on International Women's Day.
The event id dedicated to discussing many important issues, such as stereotypes of women in the media, the importance of representativeness in the media, the importance of mentoring and networking, and the differences between the public perception of successful men and women.
The opening speech will be given by Prof. Dr. Margreth Lünenborg from the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, a researcher into the fields of journalism (hybrid forms of journalism, new challenges in digital environments), of equality in the media and emotions in media communication.
In the panel discussion, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, will share her experiences in and views on this topic.
In addition to Dr. Pirc Musar, the panel includes foreign minister Tanja Fajon, chief analyst of international affairs at the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, Therese Larsson Hultin, director of the 8 March Institute, Nika Kovač, and Prof. Dr. Milica Antic Gaber, full professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.
The event will be moderated by Nataša Briški.
A special guest of the event will be the European Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni.
