All of the compositions in the December concert come straight from the East, as do the performers. On the completion of their tour of South Korea and Japan, principal conductor Kakhi Solomnishvili, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and pianist Alexander Gadjiev will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s popular Second Piano Concerto and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony in Ljubljana as well. The orchestra will also present a new work by one of the most important Georgian composers, Nikoloz Rachveli, who wrote the composition as a tribute to Maestro Solomnishvili’s collaboration with our ensemble.
