We live in an age fraught with rapid and sudden changes, a time of both plenty and deprivation. We each try to face the challenges of our time in our own way. It is therefore worth seeking for a way and a place that would provide us with inspiration and enrich our lives with a timeless aesthetic. Our two series which abound in the art of music undoubtedly provide this space.
It is with great pleasure and enormous pride that we present our flagship classical music brand, the Golden Season Series, which is celebrating its 30th year in the 2023/24 season. For this jubilee season, which opens the same day as in 1994, on 20 October, we have devised an inspiring programme, a return to the tradition of classic symphonic repertoire.
The opening of the series is dedicated to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the excellent Jaap van Zweden; In addition to possibly most famous work of the Viennese Classic, Beethoven's Fifth, the programme includes a less frequently performed work, Britten’s Violin Concerto. The Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in December as part of their centenary tour; As becomes a national orchestra, their exciting programme includes works by Liszt and Bartók. The season continues in a British vein: the celebrated English Chamber Orchestra will perform under the baton of the brilliant violinist Julian Rachlin who will appear as both a soloist and conductor. In March, we are hosting the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and looking forward to hearing the magnificent Alice Sara Ott as soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, as well as two iconic English works by Walton and Elgar.
The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn is to appear in May in the same spirit of authentic performance with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. To commemorate the anniversaries of Dvořák and Smetana in 2024, the season concludes with a concert by the ambassador of Czech culture, the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, an orchestra celebrating its 30th anniversary.
