Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
The opening Silver Series concert features a musical instrument that rarely takes the role of a solo instrument. Emmanuel Ceysson, a harpist of astonishing expressiveness and technical command, will be joined on stage by Godalni kvartet Tartini (Tartini String Quartet), an acclaimed Slovenian ensemble whose history goes back four decades. Possibly the world’s most prestigious ensemble specialising in contemporary music, Ensemble Modern pays a special tribute to Slovenian new music composers. After a hiatus of twenty-one years, the world-renowned a cappella ensemble, The King's Singers, is returning to Cankarjev dom with a varied programme that spans practically the entire vocal music canon. For all piano music lovers, a recital by Yefim Bronfman, a giant of classical piano, will surely prove a much-anticipated event, featuring a romantic programme and Esa-Pekka Salonen’s piano miniature written especially for him. In spring, we are hosting a concert by Martin Sturm, an accomplished organist who has been enchanting audiences with his interpretations of the standard repertoire and his own improvisations.
The series concludes in May with the concert by two proficient chamber music partners, pianist Éric Le Sage and violinist Daishin Kashimoto.
